أقام جحا في بعض رحلاته في قرية عدّة أيام فكانوا
يطعمونه الخبز والملح فقط. فصلّى بهم الصبح يوما فقرأ في الكعة الأولى "يا
أيها الذين آمنوا لا تطعموا ضيوفكم الملح بل لحما. فإن لم تجدوا لحما فعسلا فبيضا
ومن لم يفعل ذلك فقد ضلّ ضلال بعيدا وخسر خسران مبينا".فقرأ في الركعة
الثانية بعد الفاتحة "وإن لم تجدوا بيضا فسمكا فان لم تجدوا سمكا فلبنا ومن
لم يفعل ذلك منكم فقد افترى إثما عظيما ومأواه جهنم وسائت مصيرا". فلما فرغ
من الصلاة جاءوا إليه واعتذروا عن التقصير في حقه وإنه لم يكن عندهم علم بأن الله
نزّل هذه الوصية وسألوه في أي سورة هذه الآيات؟ فقال لهم: " في سورة
الأكل".

نبغ
في الطب من المسلمين كثيرون رجالا ونساء،
وكان لهم نظام خاص يتبعونه، وكان رئيس الدولة العطايا والموافز يمنحهم كما كان
يجيز النابغين منهم. فبلغ عدد الأطباء في زمن المقتدر بالله في بغداد 800 ونيفا
و60 طبيبا. ولم يقتصر النبوغ في الطب على الرجال، فقد نبغ من النساء عدد غير قليل.
وكان الفحص الطبي عند المسلمين متقدما، فقد كانوا يفحصون البول ويجسّون النبضة،
وانتقدوا كثيرا من آراء أطباء اليونان في هذا الشأن وأصلحوها وعلقوا عليها.
والثابت
أنه كان لهم حظّ وافر من صدق النظر في التشخيص والعلاج. لقد كان أطباء المسلمين يفحصون
العليل بدقّة وعناية مستخدمين ما كان لديهم من الوسائل المعروفة، فترى الطبيب يسأل
المريض عما يشكو منه وعن عاداته وطريق معيشته وعن الأمراض التي أصيبت في حياته وعن
أحوال أسرته الصحيّة ومناخ بلده كما يفعل الأطباء في عصرنا الحاضر.
